How GST is Calculated

Learn the formulas used to calculate GST amounts and totals

GST Calculation Formulas

Adding GST to Base Amount:

GST Amount = Base Price × (GST Rate / 100)

Total Price = Base Price + GST Amount

Example: ₹1,000 × (18/100) = ₹180 GST
Total = ₹1,000 + ₹180 = ₹1,180

Removing GST from Total Amount:

Base Price = Total Price / (1 + (GST Rate / 100))

GST Amount = Total Price - Base Price

Example: ₹1,180 / (1 + 0.18) = ₹1,000 Base
GST = ₹1,180 - ₹1,000 = ₹180
